Developments in cold-formed/light-gauge steel (CFS/LGS) design over the past six years have resulted in a proliferation of new designs for lateral load resisting systems. The majority of these designs have been focused on the vertical lateral load resisting system. The objective of this Tech Note is to provide a concise, basis design reference for CFS/LGS framed lateral load resisting systems. As such, this Tech Note focuses primarily on Code (UBC, IBC and IRC) based design values and widely used standard design methodologies in the United States.
