Analytical Study on Rotational Restraint of Sheathing

PREFACE

This report is a supplement to the July 2007 report on Experiments on Rotational Restrain of Sheathing by Schafer, Sangree and Guan. The work reported herein was completed at The Johns Hopkins University. It employs finite element models of the previously conducted rotational restrain tests, and includes a small number of additional physical tests to investigate the role of fastener spacing in further detail.

It is anticipated that the AISI Committee on Framing Standards will consider the results of this study in the development of future standards and the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute in the development of design aids. The American Iron and Steel Institute and Steel Framing Alliance with to express their appreciation to the researchers and project sponsors for this report.
