| Preface The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI)
Committee on Framing Standards has developed AISI S230-07, the 2007 edition
of the Standard for Cold-Formed Steel Framing - Prescriptive Method
for One and Two Family Dwellings to provide prescriptive requirements
for cold-formed steel framed detached one and two-family dwellings, townhouses,
attached multi-family dwellings, and other attached single-family dwellings.
This edition supersedes the previous edition designated as AISI/COFS/PM-2006.
In 2008, the Committee on Framing Standards developed Supplement 2 to
AISI S230-07 to revise and clarify certain wall bracing provisions. Supplement
2 to AISI S230-07 replaced Supplement 1 and has been fully integrated
into this document.
Developed through the consensus of numerous engineers, researchers,
producers and others builders, S230-07 is a valuable resource for builders,
architects, engineers, and code officials that design, inspect or review
plans for residential steel construction. S230-07 has been adopted into
both the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) and 2009 International
Building Code (IBC). This is a must-have document for anyone considering
residential construction with steel. Easy to read charts, tables, and
details make code-approved design quick and simple: even in high-wind
and high-seismic zones.
